Transport to and from Mount Lilydale Mercy College
Both Public school buses and Contract school buses service the College. These buses are provided by the Department of Education in conjunction with PTV and local bus companies. The Department of Education offers different types of transport assistance to eligible families. If parents / guardians accept transport assistance, they must agree to the conditions of travel.
Public school buses run the same as normal public buses. However, they only have school students on them and drop students directly at the College in the morning and pick up from the College in the evening. Students who use these buses require the use of a MYKI card.
Some families may be eligible for a Government funded MYKI. To be eligible, the student’s home address must be more then 4.8km from the College and we must be their closest Catholic school.
Contract school buses are a part of an extensive school bus network that provides free travel to eligible government and non-government students living in rural and regional Victoria. Access to these buses for our students rely on seats being available after Government schools have been serviced first. Contract buses operate on the Warburton and Healesville lines (including Yarra Glen, Steels Creek & Castella) as well as one that services Mount Evelyn and two that use the Monbulk line. Eligible families must live more the 4.8km from the College. Students are nominated a bus to catch based on the bus route closest to their home address.
Application forms for both Contract buses and Government funded MYKIs can be obtained at the College Office.
For future Year 7 students, the College bus coordinator assesses each student’s eligibility for access to the different bus services. If deemed eligible, a letter and application form is posted out to families July / August of the year prior to their commencement at the College.
